Online Focus Groups: An Experimental Internet DELPHI

Published Summer 1996 in the Volume 59, Number 3 issue of Florida Scientist, this article by Guy Hagen and Matthew Brown described one of the first formally documented experiments in online focus group methodology. This system utilized the “DELPHI” methodology, which incorporated a statistical, iterative feedback process and asynchronous interaction amongst participants. The participants were experts on Florida water supply / environmental issues, and the discussion centered on identifying the most feasible policy solutions for regional potable water supply.
